Celebrating the one year anniversary of our Podcast, the third episode of Top of the World for 2017 welcomes Sydney based artist and producer, Michael Carpenter to the show.
A well respected member of the power pop and alt-country communities Michael co-owns Love Hz Studios with Matt Fell in Leichhardt. The studios has been in operation for 13-years and in that time has produced a number of multi-award winning albums. Michael’s transition to the alt-country and americana genres over the last few years led to the forming of his bands The Cuban Heels, The April Family and the Carpenter Caswell Project.
With 24 studio albums, world-wide touring and hundreds of co-writes under his belt it was a pleasure to have a chance to sit down with Michael this month to talk about creativity, perseverance, community, writing, recording and changing genres. This episode also includes songs from Nadia Reid, Callum Wylie, Martha Wainwright, Lola Sola, All our Exes Live in Texas and Steve Earle. Michael Carpenter also performed “Father” and “I Should Have Told You”.
