Episode 8 of Top of the World welcomes Sydney based Alt-Folk and Country Artist Sam Newton to the Program. Currently completing a National Tour for his second record Violet Road Produced by Chris Gillespie, the record has been likened to the music of Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark.
We caught up with Sam before he set off to Canberra and Melbourne for more shows with the Sydney Album Launch on the 13th October at Django Bar. The Tour will run all the way to the start of November ending with the Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival in Victoria. Having shared the stage with Fanny Lumsden, Jen Mize, Greta Ziller, Mitch Power and The Weeping Willows just to name a few, we loved having Sam as this month’s guest Artist on Top of the World.
This episode also includes songs from Sons of the East, Sarah Blasko, Stu Larson and Natsuki Kurai, Brian Campeau, Lisa Mitchell, Ngaiire and Neil Young. Sam also performed his songs “The Way to Your Heart” and his current Single “Hold You Down” live in Studio. Both of his live songs are from the latest record “Violet Road”.
Top of the World airs Thursdays at 8pm, Saturdays at 10pm and Tuesdays at 11am
